Attitude Check

So, my daughter will soon be 13, and she is changing quickly, right before my eyes! The once sweet little girl has grown an attitude, that at times could match mine. I know I was definitely not perfect growing up, and had quite the attitude myself, ok HAVE quite the attitude myself. I don't want you to think that she is total brat, who has no respect or anything like that. She really is a great kid! We are just clashing more than usual, lately. Some days are better than others, and we seem to be best of friends. Other days we can hardly be in the same room without someone getting upset due to those lovely things we must deal with, hormones! (enter music from psycho here)
This is something I am really trying to learn to deal with...better. I know that I have my faults and behavior is, for the most part learned. She has learned a lot of her attitude from the adult attitudes that float around this house. So I am trying to keep mine in check and remember that occasionally, it is ok for her fly off the handle, or get super poopy over something super simple (in my opinion, anyway).
So, needless to say, I have been in prayer over our mother/daughter relationship and really don't want her to feel isolated or like she can't vent or come to us with problems. Today, while on facebook, I read a post from a friend.
"Little girls are a gift. To be treasured and honored. And while there are plenty of moments when the negotiating, bickering, and arguing push me to my limits, I know I've been entrusted with royalty." - M.D.
So, thank you, Father for the gentle reminder that You have entrusted me with YOUR daughter. A princess. To be treasured and honored. Help me Lord to do just that! May we bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us, Lord. (Col. 3:13) In Jesus' name, Amen!
