Passing Along the Blessings

My Daddy is an avid fisherman.  He taught both my brother and I, and now my children and husband, to fish.  I never really realized what a blessing that has been.  Until now.  It was always just something we did.  It was a norm in our family.  I didn't realize just what a blessing it is!
This weekend we went to two different lakes.  Saturday we spent the day up north with several friends.  We had a huge bbq, rode 4-wheelers and took the kids fishing.  The men were too busy at the smoker and on 4-wheelers, so the girls and I took the kiddos down to the lake.
I felt like a champ when I fixed a pole, and added a hook to it, by myself.  I baited hooks, got kids out of rough spots, fixed broken lines and photographed the happenings.  For the first time, I got a taste of what my Daddy must feel like when we fish with him! Constantly getting us unhooked from anything and everything, changing or replacing flies (or adding bait) and never really getting to do any fishing himself.  While I was getting tired (and a little frustrated at times) I felt extremely blessed! I love that I have parents that spent time with me and taught me how to do things.  That I can now pass simple things onto my children and friends' children.  Something as simple as fishing lit up their hearts!  To watch them cast further than they did last time, and reel in branches was awesome!  I even got to watch my teenage daughter, bait hooks for the younger ones and help them cast.  It was pretty cool!
