Rotten Food

Someone very close to me is just never satisfied. No matter what he has, he always needs the newest thing. Little things (which happen to be most important to me) just don't cut it with him. He has to have what everyone else has. The really bad part is that he can't afford to live this way. I just don't understand why it is such a hard concept to grasp! I only wish he could learn to be happy with the things he has. God has blessed him with so much and he continues to strive for junk.
John 6:27 says, " Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."
I feel so bad for him that he feels so empty inside. I don't know how to get the point across to him that no matter how many "things" he acquires, he will still be empty inside. The only thing that will fill this void inside of him is the free gift of grace. The love of Christ is the only thing that will heal his pain and fill his void. Even with the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, he can't see what he has been blessed with and be thankful!
If only we could will the want for others!
